To be honest, he never worked and he couldn't really relate to how the workers felt even though he wrote about how bad there poverty was. On the contrary Marx was one of the most influential figures of the 19th and 20th centuries he developed a philosophy that has been important to the present day, so he should have some credit for that, besides if someone has had that much of an impact, why do they need to work?
View towards: Do teachers know best? In certain subjects teachers will know best, such as Science related subjects because they will have thoroughly studied the discipline at university and they know the ins and outs of the subject. Whereas in subjects such as Sociology it can be a matter of opinion and anyone can be right if they can justify there opinion.

Even though sociology is a matter of opinion, teachers of sociology have still studied the discipline at university otherwise how would you have developed your opinion on sociological views?

Yes that is true, however i believe that daily interactions with people and society can also effect how we view the world around us so its not neccessarily based on sociological views such as Marxism, if we developed our views from teachers how could we possibly evaluate a theory?

Teachers are there to tell us the theorists' view, then we develop our own opinion ourselves, so our opinions are similar/or based on sociological views
